The Old Library is a new coworking space, in Kirkwall, Orkney. Formed within the town’s former public library (the most northerly Carnegie Library in Europe), it is a space which welcomes all types of businesses.
The space welcomes a wide range of individuals and businesses. From solo freelancers and startup entrepreneurs, to work-from-home employees. Through to small businesses with an existing team around them, as well as larger businesses and organisations, looking for meeting space – or a smart environment to host their next event!
Fundamentally, this space represents more than just a desk and good wifi. This is a space which brings people together. Creates new relationships and new opportunities – for them and their business. And keeps the entrepreneurial spirit going strong in our islands!

As a proud Orcadian, I’ve always loved this building!
With many happy childhood memories visiting it when it was still the public library, I was excited to bring new life into the space!
With a background in accountancy, I also serve as a Finance Director and Business Advisor to a wide range of businesses through my other business, CRC – which is also now based in the space!
Using these skills – and my passion for local businesses – I can’t wait to welcome people into the space, and help create new connections and opportunities on our islands!

Community Manager
After spending 12 years in London developing my skills as a senior events manager for a trade association, I moved back home to Orkney.
Now, I’m excited to bring my expertise back home as the Community Manager at The Old Library and be part of this brand new coworking and events space venture.
I’m passionate about making connections and creating a business community here at the The Old Library, a place for collaboration, creativity, and some great events too.
